I’ve been waiting to listen to this album for a while now, a true adrenaline pumper! If you’ve watched the high-octane REDLINE by Takeshi Koike, then you would know that the soundtrack by James Shimoji absolutely stands on it’s own alongside Madhouse’s brilliant animation.
It’s relaxing yet dramatic funk-infused electronica, pop, rock and ear-popping techno pieces keep you on the edge from start to finish. I haven’t found any previews of the album itself on YouTube and the like but the trailer below gives a small gist of the soundtrack if you’ve yet to watch the film (and I wholeheartedly recommend watching REDLINE if you get the chance to do so, it’s one of a kind!) …
The vocal tracks remind me of the particular scenes from the film (as they should) but as it stands, they don’t appeal to me unfortunately and lack any replay value. I’m purely listening to (and loving) the non-vocal goodness here. So my favourites in track listing order are …. “Yellow Line”, “OASIS”, “Red Angels”, “Tension”, “Vertical Drop”, “Moniter Room” and the signature track “REDLINE” (the part where JP inserts the capsule into the engine sure makes me tingle. And that is all, I’ll be going back to my ear-drums getting popped through the loud volume of my earphones and excessive bopping from listening to this awesome soundtrack.
