The story is told in first person by our nameless protagonist, a college student who just wants to live the "rose-colored campus life". He relives his college experience in different scenarios but something always goes awry keeping him from his desired lifestyle. Simple right? Maybe a little boring? Definitely not. Even though the story is told in a somewhat episodic nature and makes each episode seem like they have little to do with the last there are many intricacies in each episode that build up and give you the full picture about all the characters and the ongoings in the series. Everything is so fantastically written, nothing is out of place and every scene and line has meaning whether it's to aid in intricately building the story up in-between these parallel scenarios of our protagonist's or just simple foreshadowing. Such a simple story is put together in such an interesting, innovative and intricate way that it just leaves you in awe even before the incredible conclusion that puts all the remaining pieces together and truly gets across the morals of the story. The Tatami Galaxy knows what it's doing in getting it's messages across just as well as it does at it's incredible story-telling, the messages are never mixed, overbearing, or preachy. Beyond the interesting story-telling is it's bizarre presentation and flow of events, Tatami is very surreal and the happenings of the series are very abstract. There's lots of strange and fun things to experience and they happen at a blistering pace, a lot of which is told through the main characters monologuing which could seem a bit jarring and like information might be missing but you get everything you need through the it's complex storytelling method that I mentioned before.
