Mirai Nikki: Another World
In the story of the adaptation, 12 young people come into the possession of Future Diaries in which their futures are written. The 12 are forced to play a survival game and kill each other off, including Arata Hoshino (Hana-Kimi's Masaki Okada) and Yuno Furusaki (Thriller Restaurant's Ayame Gōriki). Shibasaki also contributed the theme song for another live-action, manga-based television series starring Okada, 2009's Otomen.

Mirai Nikki - Another:World - will be the first live-action television series to run in Fuji TV's 11 p.m. (specifically, 11:10 to 11:55 p.m.) timeslot on Saturdays in two years. Yūsuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys trilogy, Gantz, Bloody Monday) is scripting the series.

The manga has sold 4 million copies and inspired both a video anime project and a television anime series which premiered in October. Tokyopop published 10 of the 12 manga volumes before shutting down its North American publishing operations last May. Funimation and the video-streaming service Niconico are streaming the television anime series as it airs in Japan.

Actress/singer Kou Shibasaki is performing the theme song for Mirai Nikki - Another:World -, next month's live-action television adaptation of Sakae Esuno's Future Diary (Mirai Nikki) manga. Shibasaki based her lyrics for the song "Another World" on the story world in the original manga. She explained, "It is a powerful song about living freely for yourself, by not yielding to your weakness and not running away from yourself."
